Citation tracker: will AI cite the page you just published?
Publish a page for a prompt you are losing and switch on citation tracking. AI Rank Lab re-runs that prompt every week and checks whether ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity or Google's AI answers cite your exact URL, and shows the week it was first cited.

What does the citation tracker do?
The citation tracker is the part of AI Rank Lab's Action Plan that checks whether a page you published gets cited by AI. Once a week it re-runs the prompt the page was written for on the prompt's engines, matches your exact URL against the sources each answer cites, and records the result, its position and the first week the page was cited.
AI citation monitoring is checking, over time, whether AI answers cite your pages as sources. The tracker does it for one page and one prompt at a time.
What the citation tracker shows
Publishing is a guess until you know whether AI engines pick the page up. The tracker turns it into a result.
A weekly check for every tracked prompt
Once a week the tracker runs the prompt on its engines and records, per engine, whether your published URL was cited and in what position.

The week your page was first cited
The tracker matches the exact URL you published against the URLs each engine cites, and records the first time it shows up. That is your answer to “did this page work?”.

Who is cited until you are
Every check also stores the other URLs the answer cites, so you can see which competitor, review or forum pages still win the prompt.
Each outcome is recorded against your domain and fed back into the citation factors the AI Content Writer uses, so later briefs lean on what got cited for you.
Cited sources change between runs of the same prompt. A weekly history shows whether a citation sticks.

One check is a sample, not a measurement. AI Rank Lab stores every run, so you compare answers over time instead of trusting one screenshot.
The citation tracker is part of the Action Plan. After you publish a page for a prompt, it re-runs that prompt every week on the prompt's engines and records whether ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews or AI Mode cite your published URL, its position, and the first week it was cited.
How often does the tracker check for new citations?
Once a week for each prompt you opt in. If your credit balance is too low when a check is due, it is skipped and retried the next day. You can also run the prompt yourself at any time, and that run updates the tracker too.
Which AI engines does the Citation Tracker cover?
The engines saved on the prompt, chosen from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode.
Can I track competitor citations at the same time?
Yes. Every check stores all the URLs the answer cites, so you see which competitor, review or forum pages are cited instead of yours. For citation share across all your prompts, use citation analytics.
What do I do with the citation data once I have it?
If the page is cited, keep it updated and use the same approach on the next lost prompt. If it is not cited after a few checks, read the pages that are cited instead and improve yours. Outcomes also feed back into the citation factors the AI Content Writer uses for your domain.
Can I see when ChatGPT cites my website?
Yes. Track a prompt with ChatGPT among its engines and the tracker records each week whether ChatGPT cited your published URL, with the date of the first citation. For all your URLs across all prompts, see citation analytics.
Can I see when Gemini cites my page?
Yes. Save the prompt with Gemini among its engines and switch on tracking. Each weekly check records whether Gemini cited your published URL and keeps the date of the first citation. You can add ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode to the same prompt.
Do you alert me when a citation drops?
Not today. There are no email or Slack alerts. Each weekly result, including a check where the page is no longer cited, is stored in the Action Plan history for the prompt.
What is AI citation monitoring?
AI citation monitoring means checking, over time, whether AI answers cite your pages as sources. It differs from rank tracking: the question is not where you rank, but whether the answer points readers to you.
How is the citation tracker different from citation analytics?
Citation analytics covers every URL cited across all the prompts you run. The citation tracker follows one published page for one prompt, re-checked weekly, to show whether that page starts getting cited.
