12. AI Rank Lab Chrome Extension

This section explains what the AI Rank Lab browser extension collects, why, and who receives it. It applies in addition to the rest of this policy. The extension audits the web page you are viewing for search and AI-search visibility, and shows the results in a side panel and on the page.

12.1 When the extension reads a page

Only when you ask it to. The extension reads a page when you run a tool on it. It does not run in the background, does not record the pages you visit, and does not read pages you have not run a tool on. If you allow access to all sites in the extension's settings, it can work on a page without you clicking its toolbar icon first, but it still reads a page only when you run a tool.

If you use "Ask the AI apps", the extension opens your prompt in the AI apps you choose (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini) in new tabs, signed in as you, after Chrome asks you to allow access to those sites. It sends the prompt there, waits for the answer, and reads only the links cited in that answer. It does not read your other conversations in those apps. The cited links are kept in the report on your device and are not sent to us; the prompt you send is subject to that AI provider's own privacy policy.

12.2 What is collected

• Your AI Rank Lab account name and email, when you connect the extension, to show which account is signed in.
• An extension session token, stored in your browser, to authenticate requests.
• Your browser type, operating system and extension version, to list your connected extensions in Settings and to diagnose problems.
• The address (URL) of a page you run a tool on, to run the tool and keep your run history.
• Content of a page you run a tool on (text, headings, links, image addresses and alt text, meta tags and structured data), when that tool needs it, to calculate scores and produce the result you asked for.
• Prompts, keywords and other text you type into a tool, to run that tool.
• Which tools you run and the credits charged, for billing and your usage history.

The extension does not collect your browsing history, pages you do not run a tool on, anything you type into forms on web pages, passwords, other websites' cookies, keystrokes or screenshots.

12.3 How page content is handled

Most on-page checks run inside your browser; for those, only the page address and summary counts are sent to us. Tools that calculate scores or use AI send the page content they need to our servers. We do not store the page content itself, only a fingerprint (hash) used to recognise an unchanged page, together with the result, which may quote parts of the page. Results and run history are kept for about 13 months so you can re-open reports you spent credits on, and are then deleted automatically. Before sending content from a page that appears to be private (for example, a page with a password field), the extension asks you first. Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and session tokens are kept in the extension's private storage.

12.4 Who receives data

We share data only as needed to run the tool you chose:

• AI model providers (Google Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic and Perplexity) receive page content, prompts or keywords for AI tools and AI visibility tests.
• DataForSEO receives keywords, domains, page addresses and prompts for search-result, keyword, backlink and AI-search tools.
• When a tool checks a page from our servers (for example redirects, robots.txt or what AI crawlers see), our servers request that page from its website, identifying themselves as AIRankLabBot.
• Infrastructure providers that host our service.

We do not sell this data, do not use or transfer it for advertising, and do not use or transfer it to determine creditworthiness or for lending.

12.5 Limited Use

The use of information received from the AI Rank Lab extension adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data collected through the extension is used only to provide and improve its single purpose, auditing and improving the search and AI-search visibility of web pages, and is not used for any other purpose. Our staff do not read page content you submit, except with your permission (for example, when you ask support to look into a result), when needed for security or to investigate abuse, or when required by law.

12.6 Your controls

• Disconnect the extension: Settings → Connected extensions on airanklab.com, or Sign out in the extension.
• Remove site access: the extension's settings page, or Chrome's extension settings.
• Delete your run history and account data: see section 6.3 (Deletion).
• Uninstall the extension: removes everything it stored in your browser.

If we change what the extension collects or how it is used, we will update this section and tell you in the extension before the change applies.
