  2. Open the profile

Use the Maps shortcut to see the public listing, and Manage on Google Business to see the owner view.

  3. Tick what the profile has

Go down the 15 items and tick each one the profile already has. The score updates as you tick.

Posts, photos and review replies go stale. Repeat the checklist monthly.

What is a Google Business Profile checker?

A Google Business Profile checker scores how complete and well kept a business listing is, because complete, active profiles are easier for Google to match to local searches. This checker is a guided audit: enter the business name or its Google Maps link, open the profile, and tick the 15 items it already has. The score updates as you go.

The 15 items and their points are: business name (10), complete address (10), primary category (9), phone number (8), business description (8), website URL (7), hours for every day (7), profile photo (7), cover photo (6), 10 or more product or service photos (6), services listed (6), two or more additional categories (5), questions answered (5), Google Posts (5) and replies to reviews (5). That is 104 points; your score is the share you have, as a percentage.

Reading the score: 80% or more is shown as well optimised, 50–79% means important items are missing, and under 50% needs work. Below 80%, the tool lists the three unticked items worth the most points, which are your best next fixes. Shortcut buttons open the business on Google Maps, its reviews in Google Search, and the Google Business Profile manager.

Limits: the checker does not connect to Google or read your profile automatically, so the score depends on you ticking the items honestly. It cannot see your rankings, your rating or how you compare with nearby competitors.

Why use a Google Business Profile checker?

Many local businesses lose visibility to small gaps: no secondary categories, missing hours, no new photos for months, unanswered reviews. A weighted checklist shows which gaps matter most, so you fix the ones that help local pack and Maps visibility first.

What is Google Business Profile?

Google Business Profile is Google's free listing for businesses. It controls how a business appears in Google Search and Maps: name, address, phone, hours, website, photos, posts and reviews.

Is Google My Business the same as Google Business Profile?

Yes. Google renamed Google My Business to Google Business Profile in 2021. GMB, GBP and Google business listing all mean the same free profile.

How does this checker score my profile?

Each of the 15 items carries 5 to 10 points, 104 in total, and your score is the share of points your ticked items add up to. Name, address and primary category carry the most weight because Google needs them to show the business at all.

How does Google Business Profile affect local SEO?

Google ranks local results on relevance, distance and prominence. A complete profile with the right categories improves relevance, and reviews, photos and activity contribute to prominence. Distance you can't change.

What should I optimise first on my profile?

Categories. The primary category decides which searches the business can appear for, so choose the most specific one, then add accurate secondary categories. After that, complete every information field and add photos.

How many photos should a Google Business Profile have?

There is no fixed number. Cover the basics first (logo, cover photo, exterior, interior, and your products or services), then add new photos regularly. The checklist counts 10 or more product or service photos as complete.

Do Google reviews affect local rankings?

Yes. Google says the number of reviews and their ratings are part of prominence. Replying to reviews also shows customers the business is active.

Does the checker pull data from Google automatically?

No. It is a guided self-audit: you open the profile and tick what is there. That keeps it free and lets you check any business, including ones you don't manage.
