How to read the generated llms.txt
The file is plain Markdown with only two heading levels, so it reads the same for people and for programs.

The single H1 at the top. It is the only part the specification requires.

What llms.txt is for
llms.txt is a proposed standard, published at llmstxt.org in 2024, for a Markdown file at the root of a website. Where robots.txt tells crawlers what they may fetch, llms.txt tells language models what the site is and which pages are worth reading, with a line of context for each.
The file is small on purpose. Models and AI agents that look for it get a curated index instead of navigation menus, scripts and boilerplate.
Does llms.txt help AI visibility?
Not on its own, and not yet in a way anyone can measure reliably. Major AI companies have not committed to reading llms.txt when they answer questions, and Google has said it doesn't use it for Search. It is cheap to add, it helps AI coding tools and agents that do read it, and it forces a useful exercise: deciding which pages best explain your business.
What moves AI visibility is the rest of the site: pages that answer real questions clearly, that crawlers can reach, and that other sites cite. To see whether AI engines mention you today, track it directly.
llms.txt vs llms-full.txt
llms.txt is an index of links. llms-full.txt is a companion convention that holds the full text of those pages in one file, so a model doesn't have to fetch each link. Documentation sites often publish both. This generator writes llms.txt.

What this llms.txt generator doesn't do
It needs a signed-in account, and each generation uses 20 credits. New accounts start with 100 free credits.
It works from the pages it can reach by crawling from your homepage. Pages that nothing links to won't be included.
It doesn't write llms-full.txt or the .md versions of each page that the specification also suggests.
It doesn't upload the file. Place it at your domain root, then validate it with the free llms.txt checker.
It can't make AI engines read or cite your site; llms.txt is a voluntary convention.
Support is informal. Some AI coding assistants, agents and documentation tools fetch llms.txt when they find it, but the major AI search engines have not committed to using it, and Google has said it does not use llms.txt for Search. Treat it as a low-cost addition, not a ranking or citation lever.
Does llms.txt improve AI citations?
There is no reliable evidence that it does on its own. AI engines cite pages they can crawl and that answer the question well. llms.txt can help tools that read it understand your site faster, which is why it's worth the few minutes it takes, but measure citations directly rather than assuming a lift.

What does the Optional section mean?
The specification gives a section titled exactly "Optional" special meaning: the URLs listed there may be skipped when a shorter context is needed. Use it for secondary pages such as contact, legal and policy pages. It must be the last section in the file.
