What is a schema markup generator?
A schema markup generator is a tool that turns facts about a page into JSON-LD structured data, the format Google recommends. This free generator covers six schema.org types: FAQ, How-To, Article, Review, Local Business and Person. You fill in a short form, it writes the code inside a script tag, and you copy or download it. It runs in your browser and needs no account.
Schema types you can generate
Each type has its own form with the required fields marked, so the JSON-LD you copy is complete.
FAQ (FAQPage)
Question and answer pairs, the markup AI engines and Google read as direct answers.
How-To
A name, a description and up to five steps for tutorials and guides.
Article
Headline, description, author, publish date and image for blog posts and news.
Review
The item reviewed, the review text, a rating, the author and the date.
Local Business
Name, description, address, phone, website and opening hours for a local listing.
Person
Name, job title, employer, description, website and email for author and team pages.
Ready-to-paste output
Valid JSON-LD inside a script tag. Copy it, or download it as a file.
The AI schema generator drafts markup from a description of your page.
How to generate schema markup
Pick a type, fill the form, then test the result before it goes live.
Choose a schema type
Pick the type that matches the page: FAQ for questions and answers, How-To for a tutorial, Article for a post, Review, Local Business or Person.
Fill in the fields
Required fields are marked. Enter only what is visible on the page, such as the headline, author and date for an article.
Generate the JSON-LD
Click Generate. If a required field is empty, the tool lists what is missing instead of writing incomplete markup.
Copy or download the code
Copy the script tag, or download it as a .json file to keep with your templates.
Test it, then add it to the page
Paste the code into Google's Rich Results Test, then add it to the page's HTML or your CMS's header-scripts setting.
How to read the generated JSON-LD
Every block the generator writes has the same parts. Knowing them makes it easy to edit the code by hand later.
<script type="application/ld+json">
The wrapper. Search engines read the JSON inside it; visitors never see it. Paste the whole block, tags included.
@context
Always https://schema.org. It tells the reader which vocabulary the property names come from.
@type
The kind of thing the page describes: FAQPage, HowTo, Article, Review, LocalBusiness or Person.
Properties
Your field values under their schema.org names, such as headline, author, datePublished or address.
Nested entities
Some values are objects with their own @type, such as the Person who wrote an article or the PostalAddress of a business.
Missing required fields
If a required field is empty, the tool names it and writes nothing, so you never paste half-finished markup.
How schema markup helps search engines and AI answers
Schema markup is structured data that labels what a page contains: this is an article, this is its author, this is a business with this address. Search engines use it to understand the page and, when the page qualifies, to show rich results such as review stars or article details.
AI answer engines read the same pages. Clear labels for entities, authors and facts make content easier to parse, but markup alone does not earn a citation. The visible content still has to answer the question well, and the markup has to match it.
Which schema type should you use?
Match the type to what the page is, not to the rich result you want.
Blog post or news story: Article, with the headline, author and publish date.
A page of questions and answers: FAQ (FAQPage). Google now shows FAQ rich results mainly for well-known government and health sites, but the markup still describes the page.
Step-by-step tutorial: How-To. Google stopped showing How-To rich results in 2023; other engines and AI tools can still read the steps.
Shop, office or restaurant: Local Business, with the address, phone and opening hours.
Author or team page: Person, with the job title and employer.
Product, recipe, event or a type not listed here: draft it with the AI schema generator, then test it.
JSON-LD, Microdata or RDFa?
All three are valid ways to add schema.org markup. JSON-LD sits in one script block and doesn't touch your visible HTML, so it is easier to add, test and update. Google recommends it, and this generator writes JSON-LD only.

What this schema generator doesn't do
It covers six types. Product, Recipe, Event, Organization and others need the AI schema generator or hand-written code.
The FAQ form writes one question and answer per run. For several questions, generate each one and combine them in a single mainEntity list.
It checks that required fields are filled, not that your page qualifies for a rich result. Run the code through Google's Rich Results Test.
It doesn't read or edit your page. You add the code to your site yourself.
Rich results are never guaranteed. Google decides per page and per query.
How much does schema markup improve click-through rate?
There is no reliable single number. Schema can make a page eligible for rich results, which often stand out more than a plain result, but Google decides when to show them and the effect varies by query and result type. Compare the page's CTR in Search Console before and after you add markup.
How does schema markup help with AI search?
It labels the entities on a page, such as the organization, the author, the questions and answers, so AI systems that read the page can identify them more easily. It doesn't guarantee that ChatGPT, Gemini or Google AI Overviews will cite you; the content has to answer the question and match the markup.
What is schema markup?
Schema markup is structured data code added to a webpage that helps search engines and AI systems understand the content's meaning and context. It uses vocabulary from schema.org and is written in JSON-LD format in the page head. It enables rich results in Google Search and helps AI engines like ChatGPT and Gemini correctly identify entities on your site.
What schema types give rich results in Google?
Google's documented rich result types include FAQ, HowTo, Article, Product, Review, Recipe, Event, Video, JobPosting, Course, BreadcrumbList, Dataset, and more. Each requires specific required properties. Using Google's Rich Results Test confirms whether your schema qualifies.
Is JSON-LD better than Microdata for schema?
Yes, for most use cases. Google officially recommends JSON-LD because it sits in the head section without requiring you to modify visible HTML structure. Microdata embeds attributes throughout your content markup, making it harder to maintain. JSON-LD is easier to test, update, and increasingly the industry standard.
Should every page have schema markup?
Prioritise schema for your homepage (Organisation, WebSite), blog posts (Article), product pages (Product), FAQ pages (FAQPage), and local business pages (LocalBusiness). Generic category and archive pages can use BreadcrumbList at minimum to establish page context for crawlers.
Can I add multiple schema types to one page?
Yes. Multiple JSON-LD script blocks on a single page are valid and encouraged. An article page can simultaneously carry Article, FAQPage, BreadcrumbList, and Author schemas — each script block is independent and additive.
What is structured data schema?
Structured data schema is a standardized format for providing information about a page and classifying the page content. It helps search engines understand your content and can result in rich snippets in search results.
What types of schemas can I generate?
Our schema generator supports FAQ, HowTo, Article, Review, Local Business, and Person schemas. Each type is optimized for different content types and use cases.
Is the schema generator free?
Yes, our schema generator is completely free to use. You can generate unlimited schemas without any cost or registration required.
How do I implement the generated schema?
Copy the generated JSON-LD code and add it to your HTML page's head section using a script tag with type 'application/ld+json'.
Is this an AI schema generator?
This page is a form-based generator: you fill in the fields and it writes the JSON-LD, so the output is exactly what you entered. For markup drafted by AI from a description of your page, use the AI schema generator, then check the result in the Rich Results Test.
What is a JSON-LD schema generator?
A tool that turns details about a page into JSON-LD, the structured-data format Google recommends. JSON-LD sits in a script tag in the page's HTML and doesn't change what visitors see.
Does schema markup help with AI search?
It helps engines identify what a page is: an FAQ, a how-to, a local business, an author. That makes your content easier to parse and quote. It does not guarantee rich results or AI citations; the content itself still has to answer the question well.
More tools for structured data
Draft the content the markup describes, then check how crawlers see the page.
AI Rank Lab's free audit scores a page for SEO, answer-engine (AEO) and generative-engine (GEO) readiness, including its structured data, and lists the fixes.
SEO, AEO and GEO audit
Paste a URL. The audit crawls the page, checks its markup, headings, robots.txt, sitemap and llms.txt, and returns three scores with the fixes ordered by impact.
