A website heatmap and session recording tool shows what visitors do on your pages: recordings replay single visits, and heatmaps add up clicks and scroll depth across many. AI Rank Lab records with the same tag as its AI bot tracking and forms, so this behaviour data sits next to your SEO and AI search data. Recording is opt-in per domain.
Recording is off until you turn it on, and costs 1 credit per recorded session.

What the heatmap and session recording tool shows
Session Telemetry in the CRM & Marketing Suite: Session Recordings for single visits, Heatmaps for the page as a whole.
Watch the visit, not a summary
Recordings capture the page itself (its structure and every event, using the open-source rrweb library), not a video, so replays stay sharp at any size. Play at up to 8x, skip idle stretches, jump from action to action, and follow a visitor across tabs as one journey.
Actions panel: clicks, text input and events
Next and previous recording from your filtered list
The list opens on today's unwatched sessions. Narrow it by date range, watched status, device, country and page path, or by relevance, which ranks sessions by actions, pages, time on site and form submissions. Presets cover organic, paid and direct traffic, mobile, new and returning visitors.

Click maps on a snapshot of the page
Pick a tracked page or type a path. Clicks are drawn over a stored snapshot of that page, never the live site, and the side panel ranks the buttons, links and inputs people use most, with counts and share of clicks.

Scroll maps show where reading stops
Switch to scroll mode to see the share of visitors who reached 25, 50, 75 and 100 percent of the page. Put the call to action where people still are, then check the next batch of sessions.
1 credit per recorded session, charged once. Heatmaps add no per-session charge. The tag itself counts page views at 1 credit per 100 requests (the AI bot tracking rate), and pauses recording, heatmaps and forms if your balance reaches zero.
Retention
Replays stay watchable for 30 days by default. Visit analytics stay after that.
Privacy
Password, email, phone and card inputs masked. data-crm-mask and data-crm-block hide anything else you choose.
Recording filters
Date range, watched status, device, country, page path, relevance and traffic-source presets.
Heatmaps
Click and scroll maps per page path. They cover all devices and dates; there is no device or date filter on heatmaps yet.
Not built
Move or attention maps, AI session summaries, funnels, surveys and a mobile-app SDK.
Who uses it
Anyone who already brings traffic in with SEO and content and wants to see what happens next.
What does a website heatmap and session recording tool do?
Session recordings replay individual visits: where the cursor went, what was clicked and typed, and which pages followed. Heatmaps add up many visits on one page: click maps show where people click, scroll maps show how far down they get. Together they explain what analytics numbers alone cannot.
How do I start recording sessions?
Add the AI Rank Lab tracking tag to your site (the same one used for AI bot tracking), then open Tracking Setup and turn on Record sessions and Record heatmaps for the domain. New visits appear in Session Recordings as they happen.
How much do session recordings cost?
1 credit per recorded session, charged once on the session's first data. Recording is off until you turn it on. Heatmaps add no per-session charge. The tracking tag also counts page views at 1 credit per 100 requests, and everything pauses if your balance reaches zero. Credits come from your plan's shared pool; plans start at $69 a month.
Is it a video of the visitor's screen?
No. The tag records the page's structure and every change and event with rrweb, and the player rebuilds the page from that. Replays stay sharp at any screen size.
What data is masked in recordings?
Password, email, telephone and credit-card inputs are masked by default. Add data-crm-mask to mask any other text, or data-crm-block to leave an element out of the recording.
How long are recordings kept?
Replays stay watchable for 30 days by default. After that the replay is removed, while the visit's analytics (country, device, pages, duration) remain.
Can I filter recordings by country, device or traffic source?
Yes. Filter by date range (24 hours, 7 days, 30 days or all), watched status, device type, country, page path and relevance, or use the presets for organic, paid and direct traffic, mobile users and new or returning visitors.
Will the recording script slow down my site?
The tag loads asynchronously, so it does not block your page from rendering. The rrweb recorder is a separate file that the tag loads only on domains where session recording is switched on; with recording off, it is never downloaded.
Do heatmaps show mobile and desktop separately?
Not yet. A heatmap covers every recorded visit to that page path, across devices and dates. Use the recording filters to look at mobile visits one by one.
How is this different from Hotjar or Microsoft Clarity?
Both are dedicated tools that go further on behaviour analytics: Clarity is free and adds AI summaries and rage- and dead-click insights, and Hotjar adds surveys, feedback widgets and funnels. Choose AI Rank Lab when you want recordings and heatmaps in the same account as your AI search tracking, SEO audits, forms and email.
