50 KB is a common upper limit for the photograph on Indian application portals: staff selection and banking exams, passport and PAN services, university admissions and many state recruitment boards. This tool turns your photo into a JPG of at most 50,000 bytes while keeping as much detail as that allows. It searches JPG quality from 95% downwards and keeps the best setting that fits.
If a full-size camera photo is still over 50 KB at the lowest quality used (50%), the tool scales it down gradually until it fits and tells you the final pixel size. When the form specifies dimensions too, for example 200 × 230 px, turn on the exact pixel size: the photo is centred and trimmed to that shape, then compressed, so faces are not stretched.
A KB is counted as 1,000 bytes, which keeps the file under the limit whether the portal uses 1,000 or 1,024. Photos that are already JPGs under 50 KB are left exactly as they are. Requirements change between notices, so always check the official instructions for the size range and dimensions.
