What is a JSON to Markdown table converter?

A JSON to Markdown table converter takes structured data, usually an array of objects from an API response, a config file or a database export, and lays it out as a Markdown table. Each object becomes a row and each key becomes a column; keys missing from some objects leave empty cells.

Nested objects are flattened into dot-notation columns (address.city), and arrays of simple values are joined with commas; untick Flatten to show nested values as JSON instead. An array of arrays is treated as rows with the first one as the header, a single object becomes a two-column Key / Value table, and a response shaped like { "data": [...] } or { "items": [...] } is unwrapped automatically.

Limits: very deep or very wide data makes an unreadable table; pick the fields you need first.

Why use a JSON to Markdown table converter?

Documenting an API, writing a pull request or sharing results in a GitHub issue reads much better as a table than as raw JSON.

What JSON shapes are supported?

An array of objects (most common), an array of arrays (first row is the header), a single object (Key / Value table), and objects that wrap an array in a key such as data, items or results.

What happens to nested objects?

With Flatten on, {"address":{"city":"London"}} becomes a column named address.city. With it off, the nested object is shown as JSON text in the cell.

Why do some cells come out empty?

The column exists in at least one object but not in that row's object.

Is the JSON sent anywhere?

No. Parsing and conversion happen in your browser.
