PNG is the safe choice when an AVIF image has a transparent background or when you want to edit it without adding new compression. Logos, icons, stickers and product cut-outs saved from websites are often AVIF with transparency, and PNG is the most widely supported format that keeps it.
This tool decodes each AVIF in your browser and writes a lossless PNG, keeping the alpha channel exactly as it was, so transparent areas stay transparent. There is no quality setting because PNG stores every pixel. If the files are bigger than you need, scale them to 2048, 1600 or 1080 pixels on the long edge.
What to know: an AVIF is a lossy format, so converting it to PNG preserves exactly what the AVIF contains but can't restore detail the AVIF compression already removed. PNG files are usually much larger than AVIF. HDR images are saved in standard colour, and animated AVIF files give a single frame at most.
