Many Indian exam and recruitment portals ask for a signature and sometimes a photo under 20 KB, and reject anything bigger. This tool turns your scan or phone photo into a JPG of at most 20,000 bytes. It tries JPG quality settings from 95% down to 50% and keeps the highest one that fits, so you get as much sharpness as 20 KB allows rather than an arbitrarily blurry file.
A full-resolution phone photo can't reach 20 KB on quality alone, so when the lowest quality is still too big, the tool scales the picture down step by step until it fits, and shows the final pixel size, quality and exact byte count. If your form also fixes the dimensions (for example 140 × 60 px for a signature), turn on the exact pixel size: the image is centred and trimmed to that shape, never stretched, and then compressed.
A KB here means 1,000 bytes, so a file under the limit passes forms that count a KB as either 1,000 or 1,024 bytes. Very detailed photos at 20 KB will look soft: that is the limit's doing, not the tool's. The 20 KB preset is editable if your form says 10 KB or 30 KB instead.
