You get the finished picture Photoshop saved inside the file, with the visible layers merged, at full size and with transparency kept. Layers are not exported one by one, and text and effects are kept as pixels.

What is a PSD to PNG converter?

A PSD is Photoshop's working file: layers, masks, text and effects. When Photoshop saves it, it normally also stores a finished, flattened copy of the whole picture. This tool reads that copy in your browser and saves it as a PNG at the document's full size, with transparent areas kept, so you can view, share or upload a PSD without Photoshop.

Before you convert, the tool shows the document size, colour mode and how many layers the file has, plus the small preview Photoshop stores. 8 and 16-bit RGB, greyscale and CMYK documents are supported; the PNG is 8-bit RGB.

What this is not: layers aren't exported one by one, and hidden layers stay hidden. Text, smart objects and effects come out as they look, as pixels. If a PSD was saved with "Maximize compatibility" turned off, it has no finished copy inside and the result is blank or one flat colour; the tool warns you, and re-saving with that option on fixes it. Large documents need plenty of memory and work best on a computer.

Why use a PSD to PNG converter?

Clients, developers and printers often receive PSDs they can't open. A PNG of the finished design is what they actually need, and it keeps transparency for logos and UI assets, without paying for or installing Photoshop.

PSD to PNG converter: frequently asked questions

Something else? Ask the team

Can I open a PSD without Photoshop?

Yes. Add the PSD here and you'll see a preview straight away; converting gives you a full-size PNG you can open anywhere.

Are layers exported separately?

No. You get one PNG of the whole design with the visible layers merged, exactly as Photoshop last saved it. To export single layers you need Photoshop or another PSD editor.

Is transparency kept?

Yes. If the design has no background layer, the transparent areas stay transparent in the PNG.

Why is my PNG blank or one solid colour?

The PSD was saved with Maximize compatibility turned off, so it contains no finished picture. Open it in Photoshop, turn on Maximize compatibility under Preferences > File Handling, save, and convert again.

Will fonts and effects look right?

Yes, because the PNG uses the finished picture Photoshop rendered when it saved, so fonts, effects and adjustment layers already look as they did in Photoshop.

Are my design files uploaded?

No. The PSD is read by your browser and stays on your device, which matters for client work under NDA.

Are PSB (large document) files supported?

No, only .psd files. Very large PSDs can also run out of memory on phones; a computer works best.

Is the PSD to PNG converter free?

1 free run per tool per day. After that each run costs 5 credits with a free account, covering up to 30 files.
