Anchor text
DefinitionAnchor text is the clickable text of a link. It tells readers and search engines what the linked page is about.
Natural anchor text varies: brand names, page titles, plain URLs and descriptive phrases. A backlink profile dominated by identical keyword-rich anchors can look manipulated. For internal links, descriptive anchors ("how to read the citations report") help more than "click here".
