Unlock PDF makes an unencrypted copy of a PDF whose password you already know. Bank statements, payslips, insurance documents and e-bills are often sent with a password (usually your date of birth or part of your account number), which gets tedious every time you open them. Enter the password once here and download a copy that opens straight away and has no print, copy or edit restrictions.
The password is checked in your browser. The file is decrypted and rewritten with @cantoo/pdf-lib, so text, links and form fields stay as they were and the text remains selectable. The tool then checks that the copy really opens without a password. For the rare encryption types pdf-lib can't rewrite, it falls back to rendering each page with pdf.js and rebuilding the PDF from images; it tells you before you run it, because text in that copy can't be selected.
PDFs that open without a password but have an owner password (blocking printing or copying) are also handled: the copy has those restrictions removed. This tool never guesses, cracks or recovers unknown passwords. Only unlock documents you own or have permission to change.
Typing a password every time you open your own statement slows you down, and many apps, printers, upload portals and AI tools can't read encrypted PDFs at all. An unlocked copy works everywhere. Because decryption happens on your device, the password and the document are never sent to a server.
