What is a scan to PDF?

Scan to PDF turns photos of paper (forms, receipts, notes, ID copies, signed letters) into a clean, multi-page PDF that looks like it came off a scanner. On a phone, tap Scan with camera to photograph each page; on a computer, upload photos you already have, including iPhone HEIC photos.

Each page can be rotated and cropped. If you photographed the page at an angle, drag the four corners onto the corners of the paper and the tool straightens it with perspective correction. Then choose how to clean it up: Auto colour brightens and adds contrast, Grey document whitens the paper and removes shadows, and Black & white gives the crispest text and the smallest file. Reorder the pages, pick A4, US Letter or a page that fits each photo, and create the PDF. Previews update as you change settings, and all of it runs in your browser.

Limits: corners are placed by you, not detected automatically, and the PDF contains images of the pages, so its text can't be selected or searched (no OCR). Up to 60 pages per PDF. For best results, shoot in good light with the paper on a darker surface.

Why use a scan to PDF?

Scanner apps want an install, an account and often a subscription, and many upload your documents to their cloud. For an ID card, a bank form or a signed contract, that is more exposure than the task needs. Here the photos stay on your phone or computer from start to finish, and you still get straightened, cleaned-up pages in one PDF.

How do I scan a document to PDF with my phone?

Open this page on your phone, tap Scan with camera, photograph the page, and repeat for each page. Tap a page to adjust its corners, choose Grey document or Black & white, and tap Create PDF.

Are my scanned documents uploaded anywhere?

No. The photos are processed by code running in your browser, and the PDF is created on your device. That makes it suitable for IDs, bank papers and contracts.

Can it straighten a photo taken at an angle?

Yes. Open the page, drag the four corner handles onto the corners of the paper, and apply. The tool corrects the perspective so the page becomes a straight rectangle, like a flatbed scan.

Does it detect the page edges automatically?

Not yet. You place the corners yourself, which takes a few seconds per page and is reliable on busy backgrounds where automatic detection often fails. Pages you don't adjust keep the whole photo.

Can I search or copy the text in the PDF?

No. The PDF contains images of your pages, like most scanners produce, so the text isn't selectable. To get editable text, run the PDF or photos through an OCR tool afterwards.

Which enhance option should I use?

Grey document suits most printed or handwritten pages: it whitens the paper and removes shadows. Black & white gives the sharpest text and the smallest file. Use Auto colour or Original for photos, coloured stamps or forms where colour matters.

How many pages can one PDF have?

Up to 60 pages. Each page is processed one at a time with a progress bar. On older phones, very long scans are faster at the Balanced or Small file quality.

Is Scan to PDF free?

Adding, cropping and previewing pages is free. Creating the PDF uses a run: one free run of this tool per day, then credits from a free AI Rank Lab account for each extra PDF.
