In shortThe FAQ schema generator reads a page and writes 8 to 12 questions and answers about it, plus the matching FAQPage JSON-LD. Open Content → Schema and AI files → FAQ schema generator, enter the page URL on Generate FAQ and click Generate. Edit the answers so they match your page, add the questions to the visible page, and paste the JSON-LD in a script tag. Validate Schema checks any FAQ markup for free.

What FAQ schema is for

FAQ schema is structured data: a block of JSON-LD in your page's code that labels each question and its answer, using the schema.org FAQPage type. It tells machines exactly which text is a question and which is the answer, instead of leaving them to guess from the layout.

Clear question-and-answer sections also suit AI answers: a direct answer under a real question is easy for an engine to lift and cite. The schema doesn't create that content; it describes it. The work that matters is writing good answers on the page.

Don't expect FAQ snippets in Google

Since 2023 Google shows FAQ rich results only for a small set of well-known government and health sites. For most sites, FAQ schema won't add expandable questions to your Google listing. Add it because it accurately describes content that is already on the page, not for a visual result.

Before you start

  • Choose one page that people have real questions about: a product, service, pricing or how-to page.
  • Make sure the page is public. The generator reads only that URL: its title, description, headings and text.
  • Plan to show the questions and answers on the page itself. Markup should describe content visitors can see.

Generate FAQ schema

  1. Open the generatorGo to Content → Schema and AI files → FAQ schema generator. The page, titled FAQ Generator & Validator, has two tabs: Generate FAQ and Validate Schema.
  2. Generate from a pageOn Generate FAQ, enter the page URL and click Generate. The result shows Generated FAQ Items with each question and answer, and the JSON-LD Schema Markup underneath.
  3. Edit for accuracyThe answers are written by AI from your page. Read each one. Remove questions nobody asks, fix any answer that's wrong or vaguer than your page, and keep prices and facts in line with what the page says. Click Copy Schema or Download (it saves faq-schema.json) and make your edits in a text editor.
  4. Add it to the pagePut the questions and answers on the page as visible text. Then paste the JSON-LD into the page's HTML inside <script type="application/ld+json"> ... </script>. The copied schema is the JSON on its own, so you add the script tags yourself. Many CMS plugins and theme settings have a field for this.
  5. ValidateSwitch to Validate Schema, paste the final JSON-LD and click Validate Schema. You'll see Schema is Valid or Schema has Errors, with lists of errors, warnings and suggestions.

How to read the validation

ResultMeansFix
Error: invalid @context or @typeIt isn't marked as schema.org FAQPageUse https://schema.org and FAQPage exactly
Error: missing mainEntity or acceptedAnswerThe question list or an answer is missing or malformedEach item needs @type: Question, a name and an acceptedAnswer with text
Warning: question or answer too shortA question is under 10 characters or an answer under 20Write full questions and real answers
Warning: too many FAQ itemsMore than 15 questionsKeep the questions people actually ask
Suggestion: add more itemsFewer than 3 questionsAdd a few more genuine questions
Valid here isn't the whole check

The validator checks the structure of FAQ markup. It doesn't fetch your page or check that the answers appear on it. After publishing, test the live URL in Google's Rich Results Test as well.

What it costs

Generating has one price per page and is charged only when the generation succeeds. Validating is free, as many times as you like. The balance on the page says "coins"; it's your normal credit balance.

Check yourself

1. What does the Validate Schema tab check?
2. You copy the schema and paste it into your page's HTML as is. What's missing?
3. Why should the questions also be visible on the page?
