Turn keywords into AI prompts
Push question keywords into brand visibility and why they start inactive.
In shortA keyword research report includes AI prompts: the questions people ask ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity about your topic. On the report's AI prompts tab, tick the ones you want, click Add to Brand Visibility, choose the domain and confirm. They're saved as inactive prompts on all four engines. Adding them is free; nothing runs and no credits are spent until you run a prompt yourself.
Why turn keywords into prompts
A Google keyword is short: "ai rank tracker". The same need, asked of an AI assistant, is a full question: "What's the best tool to see if ChatGPT mentions my brand?" Keyword research writes those questions for you from the People also ask results and the keywords it found. Tracking them in Brand visibility tells you whether AI engines name your brand when someone asks.
This bridges your SEO plan and your AI visibility plan. The keywords guide what you write; the prompts tell you whether the writing worked in AI answers.
Before you start
- Finish onboarding and add a domain to your workspace. Prompts belong to one domain, and brand mentions are matched against it.
- Have a finished keyword research run. If you don't have one yet, start with Keyword research.
- Know your plan's prompt limit. It counts every prompt on your account, across all domains: 25 on Starter, 75 on Professional, 150 on Enterprise.
Add prompts from a report
- Open the AI prompts tabOpen a report from your Research library and click the AI prompts tab. Each card shows the prompt, the engines it targets, a buyer stage (awareness, consideration or decision), an AI difficulty score and the keyword it came from. Some cards add an Angle and Content to create.
- Pick the prompts worth trackingTick the checkbox on each prompt you want, or use Select all and Select none. The stage buttons filter the list; decision-stage prompts are usually the ones closest to a sale. The header button updates to Add 5 to Brand Visibility (or however many you picked).
- Review them in the dialogClick the button. The Add prompts to Brand Visibility dialog lists your picks in editable boxes. Reword any prompt so it sounds like a real person, untick ones you don't want, or remove them from the batch. Choose the domain in Add to domain.
- ConfirmClick Add 5 prompts (inactive). The success screen says how many were added and lists any that were skipped, with the reason. Click Open prompt list to go to AI search → Brand visibility → Prompt research.
- Run the ones you care aboutIn Prompt research, find the prompt and click Run. The Select Engines to Run window opens with all six engines ticked and no price shown, so untick the engines you don't need before you click Run Now. Each ticked engine is charged. Inactive prompts run normally; the dialog mentions activating them, but the prompt list has no activate switch and you don't need one. Results then appear in the visibility overview, citations and competitors views.
Why they start inactive
A single research run can suggest dozens of prompts, and each prompt runs on up to four engines. If every suggestion went straight into your tracked list as active, one research run could quietly lead to a large credit bill. So suggested prompts arrive inactive and nothing happens until you choose. Prompts never run on their own in Brand visibility anyway: you run them when you want fresh data.
| What happened | Why | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Prompt skipped: between 10 and 1000 characters | The text is too short or too long | Rewrite it as a full question |
| Prompt skipped: already in your prompt list | Same text already exists for that domain (case doesn't matter) | Nothing; you're already tracking it |
| Prompt skipped: plan limit reached | Your account has hit its prompt limit | Delete prompts you no longer need, or upgrade on Pricing |
| Error about adding a domain | No domain in your workspace | Add and verify a domain first |
The plan limit counts prompts across every domain on your account, not per domain. If you manage several sites, a large batch for one site can use up room you wanted for another. Prompts over the limit are skipped, not queued.
What it costs
Pick the five to ten prompts that matter most to your business and run those first. Once you know where you stand, run more. This keeps your spend in line with what you'll act on.
