SERP analysis in batches
Up to 20 keywords per batch with location and device, share of voice and the strategy hub.
In shortSERP analysis checks Google's live results for up to 20 keywords in one batch, each with its own country, language and device. Open SEO → Research → SERP analysis, click New Scan, add your keywords and run. Each result shows volume, difficulty, CPC, the top organic results, featured snippets and People also ask, plus which domains appear most often (share of voice). The Strategy Hub turns a batch into blog topics.
What SERP analysis is for
A SERP is the search engine results page: what Google shows for one query. Looking at it tells you what kind of page wins (guides, product pages, lists), which sites dominate, and which questions Google thinks belong with the topic. Many AI engines search the web before they answer, so the pages that rank are often the pages they read.
Use SERP analysis once you have a shortlist of keywords, for example from Keyword research, and want to see who you're up against before you write. It's also the tool to check results in another country or on mobile.
Before you start
- Select the domain you care about in the domain switcher. The batch compares every result against that domain, so you see your own rank and share of voice.
- Prepare up to 20 keywords. Group related keywords in one batch; share of voice and the strategy are worked out per batch.
- Stay on the page while it runs. A batch takes 30 to 120 seconds depending on its size.
Run a batch
- Open SERP analysisGo to SEO → Research → SERP analysis. The dashboard shows your totals (scans, queries run, credits spent) and a Scan History table. Click New Scan.
- Name the batch and add keywordsGive it a Scan Label if you like, for example "Pricing pages, UK". Type a keyword or question in the first row and click Add another keyword for more. The counter shows how many of the 20 rows you've used.
- Set location, language and device per keywordClick Options on a row to change its Language, Country and Device (desktop or mobile). Each row starts as English, United States, desktop. Because the settings are per row, one batch can compare the same keyword in two countries.
- Check the cost and runThe cost box multiplies your keywords by the price per keyword. The button reads Run Scan with the total. Click it and wait; the button shows Running scan… until it's done.
- Open the resultsThe Scan Complete! card shows queries run, how many succeeded and credits used. Click View Results to open the batch, or Run Another to start again.
How to read a batch
| Where | What you see | What it tells you |
|---|---|---|
| Queries tab | Per keyword: monthly volume, difficulty, CPC (USD), competition, top organic results, featured snippet | Which keywords are worth it and what kind of page ranks |
| Competitors tab | Domains ranked by how often they appear, with share of voice and best organic rank, plus your own domain | Who owns this topic and where you stand |
| Action Plan tab | Content opportunities built from gaps and People also ask | What to write next |
| Related Queries tab | Related keywords and People also ask questions, counted across the batch | Questions to answer on the page or in an FAQ |
| Raw Data tab | The full stored result for each keyword | Checking a detail the summary hides |
Share of voice here means the percentage of keywords in the batch where a domain appears at all, in the organic results or as a cited source. A competitor with a high share of voice is ranking across most of your topic, not just one keyword.
The Your AI Citations and Coverage Gaps tiles count AI Overview citations. A SERP scan is built for organic rankings, so those tiles may stay empty. For AI answers, use the AI Overview and AI Mode checks below.
Turn a batch into a plan: the Strategy Hub
On a batch, click Open Strategy Hub (New Tab), or choose it from Export. Click Unlock Content Strategy. AI reads the batch (keywords, top results, cited URLs and questions) and writes a summary, a prioritised action list and blog topics. Each topic has a primary keyword, intent, the content gap, suggested headings, semantic terms, a target word count and competitor URLs to study. Opening the strategy again later is free. Regenerate Strategy charges again and rebuilds every topic.
Right now a SERP batch charges for every keyword you submit, even if one fails to return data. The Credits Used figure on the batch counts only the successful ones, so it can be lower than what left your balance. Check the keywords before you run, and keep batches to keywords you'll use.
AI Overview and AI Mode checks
The same batch tool has two siblings that aren't in the sidebar. Open them by URL: /dashboard/brand-visibility/ai-overview checks whether Google shows an AI Overview for each query and which URLs it cites, and /dashboard/brand-visibility/ai-mode does the same for Google AI Mode. They take up to 20 queries with country, language and device, and their batches have the same tabs and Strategy Hub. The AI Overview check charges every submitted query, like a SERP batch; AI Mode charges only the queries that return data.
