In shortThe AI audit report shows an Overall Score plus separate SEO, AEO and GEO scores out of 100, an executive summary, quick wins tagged by impact, and detailed findings in tabs. AEO and GEO make up half of the overall score. Fix high-impact quick wins first. Don't compare this score with the SEO analyzer or the public SEO analyzer: they use different formulas, so only compare reports from this checker.

How the report is laid out

Open a report from Recent Website Audits on the AEO and GEO checker page, or straight after a scan finishes. The top of the page shows a row of score rings, then five tabs: Overview, SEO, AEO, GEO and AI Visibility. Clicking a score ring opens its tab.

  1. Read the score ringsOverall Score (AI and search health), SEO Score, AEO Score (answer engine optimization) and GEO Score (generative engine optimization). Each ring is coloured by band, explained below.
  2. Start on the Overview tabAnalysis Results shows the page's host and when it was analysed. Executive Summary is a short plain-English verdict. Under it, Quick Wins lists the fixes that should move the score most, each tagged high impact, medium impact or low impact, with the action to take.
  3. Dig into SEO, AEO and GEOThe SEO tab covers technical basics such as canonical URL, heading levels, lazy loading and social tags. The AEO tab has an AEO Breakdown with checks like FAQ presence, QAPage schema and voice-search readiness. The GEO tab shows AI Readiness Signals. Each tab lists findings you can hand to whoever edits the page.
  4. Download the PDFReports you run from the dashboard are full reports, so every finding and quick win is shown and the Download PDF Report button is available for sharing with a client or developer.

What the score bands mean

The product uses two sets of bands, and it helps to know both, because the same score can carry a different label in each place.

A page scoring 85 is 'Excellent' in the list but 'Needs Work' on the report rings.
Where you see itBands
Score rings on the report90–100 Good, 50–89 Needs Work, 0–49 Poor
Recent Website Audits list and its Score Range filter80+ Excellent, 60–79 Good, 40–59 Needs Work, 0–39 Critical
Same number, different label

Go by the number, not the label. An 85 is the same page whether the list calls it Excellent or the report ring calls it Needs Work. The useful question is whether the number goes up after you make changes.

How the overall score is built

The scores are calculated with fixed rules from what the scan found on the page, not guessed by an AI model. The AI model only writes the summary, findings and quick wins. The overall score is a weighted blend:

PartShare of the overall score
AEO (FAQ, Q&A and how-to structure, question headings, author, content depth)25%
GEO (organisation profile links, structured data, canonical, AI files, links, named entities)25%
Technical20%
Content15%
Crawlability (robots.txt, sitemaps, canonical, links)10%
Trust signals (about and contact pages, author, last-updated date, policies, social proof)5%

The SEO Score ring is the plain average of five sub-scores: technical, content, structured data, crawlability and trust signals. Because AEO and GEO make up half of the overall score, a page can have a strong SEO score and still a middling overall score. That usually means it isn't structured for answers yet. The lesson Structured data and llms.txt explains the fixes that move those two parts.

Why this score differs from other scores

AI Rank Lab has more than one page checker, and they don't share a formula. Comparing their numbers is like comparing a temperature in Celsius with one in Fahrenheit.

Compare like with like

To show progress, compare two reports from this checker for the same URL. Progress reports does that side by side and turns it into a PDF.

The AI Visibility tab

The fifth tab is a separate add-on. After you unlock it, you pick prompts and it checks how the scanned site appears in ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overview and Google AI Mode. The price is shown in the unlock window before you pay. These runs are stored on the report only. They don't appear in Brand visibility, so if you want to track prompts over time, use Brand visibility instead.

Check yourself

1. A page scores 85. The Recent Website Audits list says Excellent, the report ring says Needs Work. Which is right?
2. Your SEO score is 88 but your overall score is 61. What's the most likely reason?
3. Your SEO analyzer report says 78 and this report says 64 for the same page. What should you conclude?
