What the checker is for

The AEO and GEO checker scores one page for how ready it is to be read, quoted and cited by AI answer engines, and for classic search. It is the quickest baseline in the product: one URL in, one report out, with an overall score, separate SEO, AEO and GEO scores, findings and a short list of quick wins.

Use it before you change anything, so you have a number to compare against later, and whenever you publish or rewrite an important page. If you want a crawl of a whole site instead, that is a different tool: Site audit.

Before you start

• You need an account that has finished onboarding. The checker is the first page you see after signing in, because it sits at /dashboard.
• Pick a specific page, not just your homepage. A product page, a pricing page or a blog post you want AI engines to quote gives you more useful findings.
• Copy the full address, including https://. The checker rejects anything that isn't an http or https link, and it refuses private or internal addresses.
• Check your balance. It's shown under the URL bar next to the price of one scan.

Run the scan, step by step

1. Open the checkerIn the sidebar, open AI search and click AEO and GEO checker. The page heading reads Audit Any Webpage for AI & Traditional Search.
2. Paste one URLClick the bar that says Enter URL (e.g., https://yourbrand.com/blog/article) and paste the page address. Under the bar you'll see the cost per scan and your Balance.
3. Press Run Free AuditClick Run Free Audit or press Enter. Despite the label, a dashboard scan is paid: the price is taken from your balance as soon as the scan starts. If your balance is too low you'll see Insufficient credits instead, and nothing is charged.
4. Wait on the progress screenA full-screen panel titled AI Analysis in Progress appears. It cycles through seven messages: Initializing AI Scanner, Analyzing Page Structure, Evaluating SEO Elements, Checking AEO Optimization, Measuring GEO Signals, Generating Insights and Compiling Report.
5. Open the reportWhen the scan completes, the page sends you to the report at /ai_audit_report/<id>. The scan also appears in Recent Website Audits under the URL bar, with its score, a label such as Good or Needs Work, and a View button.

What happens behind the screen

AI Rank Lab fetches the page (with a headless browser if a simple fetch fails), reads its headings, structured data, images, links, sitemaps and llms.txt, then calculates the scores with fixed rules. An AI model then writes the executive summary, findings and quick wins. If the AI model is overloaded, the scan waits and tries again a few minutes later, up to three times. If it still can't get an answer, it uses rule-based findings, so you still get a report.

Once a day, if none of your domains is verified yet, a window called Enable AI Bot Tracking may open over the checker. It's about the tracking tag, not about this scan. Click Maybe Later to carry on, or follow Add your domain and tracking tag when you're ready.
