In shortAI Rank Lab has a free directory of SEO and web tools at /tools: on-page and technical checkers, content and text tools, CSS and developer helpers, Markdown and data converters, and AI search checks. Directory tools are free and need no account; most run in your browser. A few dedicated tools, such as the llms.txt and sitemap generators, need sign-in and are paid. In the dashboard: SEO → Free tools → All free SEO tools.

What the free tools are for

The paid audits look at a whole site or a whole page at once. The free tools each do one small job: check the headings on a page, preview how a title looks in Google, test a redirect, count words, turn a CSV into JSON. They're the quick checks you do while you edit, and anyone can use them, including clients and teammates without an account.

Open /tools from the website, or go to SEO → Free tools → All free SEO tools in the dashboard. Both show the same directory with a search box and category filters. Each tool has its own page at /tools/<name>.

The directory also includes the browser file tools (image, PDF, document, video and audio converters). They work differently on cost, so they have their own lesson: Browser file tools.

Use a tool

  1. Find itOpen /tools and type what you want to do into the search box, for example "redirect" or "headings", or pick a category.
  2. Give it a URL or textURL tools ask for a page address. Our server fetches the page for you, and the analysis then runs in your browser. Text and converter tools work on what you paste or type, entirely in your browser.
  3. Act on the resultEach result page explains what it found. Fix the issue in your site, then run the tool again to check. There's no history; a free tool keeps nothing once you leave the page.

Which tool for which job

A simple rule: if a paid audit or a client points at one problem on one page, a free tool is usually enough to check it. If you don't know where the problems are yet, start with an audit, which looks at everything at once. The free tools don't save results, compare over time or cover a whole site, so they complement the audits rather than replace them. Which audit to use explains the paid options.

What's free and what isn't

  • Directory tools: free, no account, no daily cap. Ignore any credit figure you see next to them elsewhere; it isn't charged.
  • Browser file tools: one free run per tool per day, then credits. See the next lesson.
  • Free dedicated pages: the llms.txt checker, schema generator and robots.txt generator are free. The llms.txt checker allows 20 checks per 10 minutes from one connection.
  • Paid dedicated pages: the llms.txt generator and the AXP checker need sign-in and charge a price per run. The sitemap generator needs sign-in and charges per URLs found.
Two tools use an older coin balance

The public llms.txt generator page and the AXP checker still charge an older, separate coin balance, not your normal credits. The page can show your credit balance while the tool replies "Insufficient coins". If you hit that, use the dashboard's LLMs.txt generator (Content → Schema and AI files), which charges your normal credits, or contact support.

Use free checks between paid audits

After a paid audit flags a problem, use the matching free tool to confirm your fix on that one page, for example the canonical tag checker after a duplicate-content warning. Re-run the paid audit only when you've fixed a batch of issues.

Check yourself

1. Do you need an account to use the HTML headings checker?
2. The public llms.txt generator says "Insufficient coins" although your dashboard shows plenty of credits. Why?
3. When you run a URL tool such as the redirect chain checker, where does the analysis happen?
